Horspath opened their Cawston Press Village Cup challenge with a convincing 79-run victory at Cumnor in the first round.
Winners of the Oxfordshire Group in four of the last five years, the visitors posted 243-8 after electing to bat in Sunday's tie.
Stephen Green led the way with a fine 72 off 84 balls, which included 10 fours and a six.
He laid the foundations in a second-wicket stand of 73 with opener Robbie Eason (28) as Horspath reached 91-2, before being joined by Josh Richardson to maintain the momentum.
The pair had added 74 for the third wicket when Green was stumped by Julius Ford Clough off Onslowe Tappin to make it 165-3.
Richardson was caught and bowled by Cade Botha four runs later for 28.
But then captain Amin Rafiq and Dougal Main shared an explosive stand of 66 for the sixth wicket.
Rafiq smashed an unbeaten 40 off 27 with four sixes, while Main cleared the ropes twice in hammering 29 from 20 deliveries, before Botha (4-43) picked up three wickets in the final over.
Opener Tom Murkett got Cumnor's reply off to a solid start.
The Cherwell League Division 1 club reached 50-1 in the 11th over when Adam Cook was bowled by Tyron Eyles for 16.
Murkett had made 37 when he fell to left-arm spinner Ryan Hicks with Main safely pouching the catch at long off to make it 81-3
His dismissal sparked a Cumnor collapse with five wickets going down for 18 runs. Spinners Amin (2-14) and Josh Richardson (2-19) claimed two victims apiece, the pair combining to end the resistance of Rory Nicholson (28) with the captain taking the catch on the mid-wicket boundary.
At 99-7, Cumnor were in dire straits. Botha (35) and Charlie Spicer (21) attempted to repair the damage with 57 for the eighth wicket before the latter was run out by a direct hit from Liam Turnbull at short third man.
Hicks then wrapped up Horspath's victory with two wickets in the space of as many balls to finish with 3-19 as Cumnor succumbed for 164.
It saw the side earn a warm round of applause as they left the pitch from Horspath's travelling supporters, who continued the celebrations by singing the praises of umpire Bob Chamberlain and scorer Simon Goves.
Horspath are now away to Sandford St Martin, who won by 200 runs at Horley after posting 305-4, in the second round on Sunday, May 10.
Meanwhile, Horspath's first experience of playing with a white ball and black sight screens proved far from memorable as the side slid to a 203-run defeat against Banbury in a pre-season friendly at the Recreation Ground on Saturday.
Captain Kieran Coyne (109 retired) and George Tait (104 retired) tucked into the home attack to set the north Oxfordshire club on the way to 307-5 off 45 overs after choosing to bat.
Horspath then caved in to 104 all out despite Richardson making 37 as Ollie Wright took 3-23.
Dan Stanley hit an unbeaten half-century as Horspath 2nd went down by 62 runs at home to Oxford University Authentics in a friendly.
He made 59 not out off 53 balls with 10 fours as the hosts were bowled out for 169 in reply to the Tics' 231.
Ed Oakley (3-15) and Josh Cummings (3-51) were Horspath's main wicket-takers after the visitors had elected to bat.
