Konidena and Hicks star in Horspath friendly win

21 Apr 2026

Sravan Konidena hit 92 and Ryan Hicks claimed 5-37 as Horspath recorded a six-wicket win over Tring Park in their pre-season opener at the Recreation Ground.

Tring were bowled out for 197 after electing to bat with left-arm spinner Hicks taking the last five wickets to fall.

Earlier, Konidena took 2-10 in a lively opening spell, while Josh Cummings, Jehan Mohammed and Dan Stanley picked up a wicket apiece as Ryan Friend (34) top-scored for the Thames Valley League Division 1 visitors.

Konidena led the way in Horspath's reply with 18 fours and a six in his 69-ball knock.

He took the upper hand in a second-wicket stand of 97 with Dan Corner (21), before Stephen Green and Robbie Eason took Horspath past the target.

With agreement for the hosts to bat on for 40 overs, Green hammered 55 off 32 deliveries with four fours and five sixes before retiring, while Eason was unbeaten on 30 when he also retired.

Mohammed (28no) and Liam Turnbull (20no) took Horspath to the close at 277-4 with Dhanuska Chandrasekra (2-28) the pick of the Tring attack.

Konidena's display set him up perfectly for his Oxfordshire debut the following day when he took 2-17 off nine overs in a one-wicket defeat by Oxford UCCE at Horspath.

Horspath continue their pre-season programme at home to Banbury on Saturday, before travelling to Cumnor in the Cawston Press Village Cup first round on Sunday.
