Tom Coleman's half-century wasn't enough to save Horspath from a four-wicket defeat in a hard-fought encounter at leaders Wokingham in Home Counties Premier Cricket League Division 2.
Coleman cracked 63 from 87 balls as the visitors posted 221-9 after choosing to bat.
And Horspath's hopes of upsetting the undefeated hosts were boosted as Asad Rafiq's opening burst reduced Wokingham to 28-3.
But then Dan Housego (62) and Imran Malik (51) frustrated the visitors before Sukhmeet Kang weighed in with 30 and Andy Rishton (21no) and Sulaiman Javed (18no) secured victory at 222-6 with 3.1 overs to spare.
Horspath gave a Home Counties debut to opener Tejas Anand following his unbeaten century for the 2nd XI a week earlier.
He was quickly into his stride with 22 before he was caught by Conrad Martucci off Shaan Khan with 31 on the board.
With Rishton striking twice, Horspath were 55-3 when Coleman was joined by Sravan Konidena. The pair put on 52 for the fourth wicket before Konidena fell for 32 with Wokingham captain Tom Hampton the successful bowler as Michael Cowdell claimed the catch.
Coleman reached a well-made fifty and was well supported by Rob Wight (29) in a sixth-wicket stand of 66 before the Horspath wicket-keeper was run out.
Coleman's fine knock, which included six fours, ended when he became a third victim for Rishton (3-44) with Cowdell taking a second catch to make it 196-8, before skipper Amin Rafiq (18no) added valuable late runs.
His brother, Asad, then bowled Martucci with the first ball of his second over to make it 4-1 and when he struck twice more in the space of three balls in the 11th over Horspath were on top.
However, Housego and Malik put on 88 for the fourth wicket to swing the match back towards Wokingham.
Viv Narayan finally ended their stand when he bowled Housego with the former Middlesex and Gloucestershire batsman's runs coming off 106 balls and including nine fours.
Malik and Kang kept Wokingham on track, though, with 59 for the fifth wicket before Liam Turnbull, making his Home Counties debut for Horspath, removed the former with Konidena taking the catch. Malik had faced 76 balls and hit three fours.
Asad gave the visitors a further lift by dismissing Kang with Konidena again displaying safe hands to make it 180-6 as the Horspath paceman finished with fine figures of 4-37. But there was to be no more joy as Rishton and Javed saw Wokingham home to make it four wins out of four.
The defeat sees Horspath slip a place to eighth ahead of a big weekend at the Recreation Ground. Second-placed Gerrards Cross, who beat Oxford by eight wickets, are the visitors on Saturday, before the side take on Aston Rowant in the Voneus Village Cup fourth round - Oxfordshire area final - on Sunday.
