Viv Narayan hit an unbeaten 77 as Horspath opened their Voneus Village Cup campaign with a resounding 115-run home win over Oxford & Bletchingdon Nondescripts in the Oxfordshire Group first round.
With the tie switched to the Recreation Ground, the reigning county champions took full advantage by posting 225-3 after electing to bat on a slow, low pitch.
Openers Robbie Eason and Dan Todd laid the foundations with a stand of 61, before the latter skied a catch to Pablo Mukherjee off Kamran Ahmed for 13.
Narayan then joined Eason and the pair had added 56 for the second wicket when the opener fell for 48, becoming Ahmed's second victim with wicket-keeper Aizaz Khan taking the catch to make it 117-2.
Stephen Green's arrival at the crease saw the tempo increase with Narayan reaching his half-century with a single in the 33rd over as they put on 85 for the third wicket.
Green had made 41 off 30 balls when he was caught by Hetu Hirpara off Bharadwaj Tanikella to leave the hosts 202-3.
Narayan, whose runs came off 71 balls included 11 fours, and acting skipper Josh Richardson then saw Horspath to the close as Ahmed finished with 2-31.
Nondies were never in the hunt as Horspath, regional winners three times in the last four years, took charge with the ball.
Asad Rafiq made the breakthrough to leave Nondies 6-1, and the Cherwell League Division 4A visitors' hopes were hit further with opener Aizaz Khan retiring hurt.
Wickets then fell at regular intervals with success for Will Eason (2-18), Ryan Hicks and Jehan Mohammed as Rob Wight impressed behind the stumps with three stumpings and a catch.
Ibraheem Mirza provided the only resistance with 38, before he became Wight's third stumping victim with Richardson the beneficiary to make it 85-6.
Richardson claimed two more victims to finish with 3-16, before fellow leg-spinner Narayan (2-7) wrapped up the innings with Nondies 110 all out.
Now Horspath are away to Shipton-under-Wychwood, after Challow & Childrey conceded their tie, in round two on Sunday, May 11.
Before the match the two teams lined up on the square with family and friends for a minute's silence in memory of Horspath vice-president Paul Hicks and Oxford & Bletchingdon Nondescripts player Alam Mohammed.
