Horspath fly flag on International Women's Day

07 Mar 2025

Horspath will mark International Women's Day by completing a successful Oxfordshire Indoor League programme against Charlbury Chaos at the Ferry Leisure, Summertown tomorrow (Saturday) (10am).

The club are third going into the final round of fixtures, having won five of their seven games, and with the chance of overhauling second-placed Charlbury for the runners-up spot behind champions Moreton Mavericks.

Horspath have enjoyed victories over Oxford Kites, Thame Town, East & West Hendred, Oxenford and Freeland West Oxfordshire Warriors with their only losses coming against Moreton and Banbury.

The team will then switch their attention to the outdoor season with a full programme in Home Counties Women League's Division 3B and Super 8 Development Group 1 plus the Oxfordshire Hundred.

Horspath open the campaign by hosting Abingdon Vale and Faringdon & District in the opening round of fixtures in the Super 8s on Sunday, May 4. The other sides in the group are Freeland, Oxenford and Oxford Downs.

This competition, which sees three games played on a day in a triangular format, continues until the start of June when the Oxfordshire Hundred gets under way with Moreton visiting the Rec on Friday, June 6. Oxford, Oxenford, Steventon and Charlbury complete the section.

High summer also sees the start of the Home Counties Division 3B matches with a trip to Dinton on Sunday, June 22. Freeland, West Ilsley and Oxford Downs make up the group.

Meanwhile, indoor nets continue at Radley College on Fridays, March 14 and 21 (8.20-9pm).

Training, under the guidance of coach Jonty Hedges, will then move outdoors on Wednesday and Friday evenings with players aged 14 plus and of all abilities welcome.
