Scorer Tommy Pritchard, who passed away in January following a car accident on Christmas Day, was remembered at Horspath's annual friendly against South Oxfordshire Amateurs (SOA) at the Recreation Ground - a game in which he traditionally captained the hosts in his own inimitable fashion.
In a poignant moment, the two sides lined up alongside the pitch for a minute's applause in his memory before the game got under way.
'Pritch' didn't play for Horspath very often, but regularly captained the side against SOA. And he usually led the side to victory despite insisting on opening the batting and bowling the bulk of the overs from one end.
He would certainly have approved of a sparkling knock from Lachlan Biggs, who hammered a brilliant 141 for the hosts as Thursday's encounter ended in a draw.
With the home side in early trouble at 24-3 after electing to bat, the 19-year-old Australian took centre stage with a glittering exhibition of strokeplay as Horspath posted 240 all out.
He cracked 24 fours and two sixes in a dazzling 96-ball knock, sharing a stand of 97 for the fourth wicket with teenager Julius Leslie (21), before putting on 84 for the fifth wicket with Lukas Yendole (41).
His superb innings finally ended when he was bowled by Teo Loeffen (5-62) as the last five wickets went down for six runs.
SOA were held to 177-7 in reply with Leslie completing a fine all-round game by taking 3-35, well supported by Ed Oakley (2-36). Shiraz Husain (54) top-scored for the visitors after opener Junaid Aziz made 29.
