Dominic O'Connor hit a magnificent unbeaten 152 as Horspath 2nd celebrated being crowned Cherwell League Division 1 champions with a spectacular 172-run win over Westbury at the Recreation Ground.
The side went into the final game of the season with the title already secured following a wash-out weekend seven days earlier.
And with the sun back out they made hay with the bat after being given first use of the pitch by Westbury.
It was a repeat of last year's Division 2 finale when Westbury came out on top to pip Horspath to the title by a single point with both sides promoted. But this time the hosts turned the tables in emphatic fashion to finish the season 38 points clear of runners-up Bicester & North Oxford.
O'Connor led from the front to make it back-to-back tons in Cherwell innings following his superb 133 at home to Cumnor two weeks ago as Horspath posted a formidable 300-3 off 50 overs.
The left-handed opener hit 19 fours and two sixes in his 151-ball knock, sharing a second-wicket stand of 188 with George Crawford, who made a Cherwell-best 82.
O'Connor went to his fifty with a square cut for two, before sweeping for four to bring up the 100 partnership.
Crawford scampered a single to mid-wicket to claim his first top-flight half-century and eased past his previous best of an unbeaten 74 made for Horspath 3rd at Challow & Childrey 2nd in Division 4B last year.
The pair's stand went to 150 when O'Connor cracked a four through the covers and they were closing in on 200 when Crawford was bowled by Ben Butcher with his 107-ball innings including 12 fours.
O'Connor pushed a single into the onside to go to three figures, before being joined by Horspath's legendary run machine, Robbie Eason, in an unbroken 82-run stand for the fourth wicket.
Eason reached a notable milestone when he passed 9,000 Cherwell League runs during his unbeaten 29 off 27 deliveries taking his tally to 9,019, according to the league website.
O'Connor raced past his previous best score made two weeks earlier, before cutting a single to bring up his 150 in the penultimate over.
An Eason single off the last ball of the innings saw Horspath reach 300 and present Westbury with a daunting challenge.
Eason's knock took his total for the season to 353, pipping Dan Todd (350) as the side's leading run scorer.
The visitors' task soon became even tougher following an inspired opening spell from Will Eason, who shattered the stumps of the top three in Westbury's order to make it 17-3.
Off-spinner Zach Rayner, 14, one of three teenagers in the side along with Sifat Habibi, 16, and Archie Lewins, 18, got in on the act with captain Ryan Hicks catching a skier at mid-on, before Westbury skipper Olly Tice and Tom Young added 55 for the fifth wicket.
They both fell, though, to 2nd XI debutant Habibi, who had Young caught behind by Dan Todd for 27, before he bowled Tice for 36 to leave Westbury 89-6.
Ed Oakley (3-21) then entered the fray to mop up the tail with Hicks claiming the other wicket as Westbury collapsed to 128 all out.
Oakley's three victims took his tally for the season to 37 making him the second leading wicket-taker in the division behind Dinton's Tom Maciejewski (39), while Eason finished with 3-38 and Habibi 2-31.
It was then just left to Horspath president Denis Walker to present the trophy to Hicks and his team with Queen's 'We Are The Champions' booming out before the celebrations went on long into the night.
The title triumph was the fourth time Horspath have won the Cherwell following previous successes in 2010, 2013 and 2024 but the first time with the 2nd XI.
It saw the side finish top of the tree in a league comprising 102 clubs with 229 teams spread across six counties. Quite a season. Quite an achievement.
