Konidena cracks century as Horspath sign off in style

09 Sep 2026

Opener Sravan Konidena hit a sparkling unbeaten century as Horspath signed off their Home Counties Premier Cricket League Division 2 programme with a five-wicket win at Thame Town.

Chasing the hosts 193 all out after they chose to bat, Konidena made 100 not out off 118 balls to steer the visitors home at 195-5 with 15.4 overs to spare.

The win sees Horspath finish seventh in the table - a position the side had occupied for the last month.

Konidena's second ton of the season, to go with a 99 against Oxford, included 11 fours and three sixes. It took his tally for the campaign to 638, the fourth highest run scorer in the division.

The Oxfordshire all-rounder put on 60 for the first wicket with Josh Richardson (26) to set Horspath on their way, before adding 57 for the third wicket with Tom Nichols (21).

Derval Green went past 500 runs for the season during his knock of 17, ending the campaign on 512, before Konidena was joined by captain Amin Rafiq to secure victory.

Konidena, who is heading to Australia for the winter to play for Singleton Irwinians CC in Perth, completed his century with a single and from the next ball Rafiq hit the winning boundary.

Earlier, Horspath had made a stunning start with the ball as Liam Turnbull and Tyron Eyles reduced Thame to 0-2.

The new ball pair struck again as the hosts stumbled to 38-4, before Alex Browne and Ubaid Kiani led the fightback with 84 for the fifth wicket.

Left-arm spinner Sam Leslie broke their stand when he bowled Browne for 60 off 53 balls, which featured four fours and five sixes.

Leslie was involved again with a run out, before Rafiq had Kiani caught by Nichols for 37 to make it 140-7.

Leslie (2-50) claimed a second victim with Rafiq taking the final two wickets to finish with 3-31, while Turnbull returned figures of 2-14 and Eyles 2-21.

Derval Green, who didn't bowl on this occasion, finished as the side's leading wicket-taker with 21 victims.
