Tom Coleman hit an unbeaten half-century before Horspath's game against already-relegated Challow & Childrey in Home Counties Premier Cricket League Division 2 at the Recreation Ground was abandoned due to rain.
Coleman was 68 not out from 75 balls with Horspath 169-4 off 31 overs when the players were forced off by a downpour and an early lunch was taken.
However, with heavy rain persisting after the scheduled resumption the match was called off with no further play possible.
It was testimony to the terrific efforts of the ground staff that as much play did take place.
In fact, it was one of only two of the ten Home Counties games to get under way with the other match at Datchet abandoned after just one over with the hosts 11-0 against Gerrards Cross.
Following rain in the morning, the start at Horspath was delayed for 29 minutes with captain Amin Rafiq electing to bat after winning the toss.
The hosts were 54-3 after Tom Nichols was caught by Vishane Perera at backward point off Theo Hutt for 26.
But then Coleman and Derval Green put on 73 for the fourth wicket, before the Jamaican all-rounder was caught at long off by Patrick Bryan off Joe Harris for 31, five short of 500 runs for the season.
Coleman, who hit 10 fours and a six, went to his second Home Counties fifty of the campaign in the next over and was maintaining the momentum with Stephen Green (19no) when the rain arrived.
With all sides picking up seven points following the abandonments, Horspath remain in seventh place ahead of the final game at sixth-placed Thame Town on Saturday.
