Heritage & Gibbs bring Horspath 3rd victory

17 Aug 2026

Luke Heritage and Joe Gibbs shared an unbroken eighth-wicket century partnership to boost Horspath 3rd's promotion push in Cherwell League Division 3B with a three-wicket win at Thame Town 2nd.

Chasing Thame's 224-6 after the hosts had elected to bat, the visitors looked to be up against it when the pair came together at 125-7.

However, they proceeded to turn the innings round and secured victory at 226-7 in an undefeated stand of 101 with Heritage hitting an unbeaten 51 off 66 balls with six fours, while Gibbs made 43 not out.

Tejas Anand (37) and Luke Finch (33) had got the innings off to a good start with an opening stand of 51 before Jeremy Batty (4-32) and Robin Sutcliffe (3-41) pegged the visitors back.

Earlier, Julius Leslie (2-24) and Sammy Parker (2-36) had been among the wickets in Thame's innings as James Neilson (55) and Rob Johnson (54) hit half-centuries supported by Daniel Tervet (29).

The win moves Horspath up to second eight points behind leaders Oxford & Bletchingdon Nondescripts, who visit the Recreation Ground next Saturday after suffering a five-wicket defeat at home to Buckingham Town 2nd. Bledlow Ridge are 10 points back in third.

Horspath 4th slipped to a two-wicket defeat at home to Stokenchurch 2nd in Division 6C.

The hosts posted 135 all out after choosing to bat with Oliver Taylor and Andy Cummings making 17 apiece as Sathyan Mohan took 3-27.

Sifat Ullah Habibi (3-35) shone with the ball for Horspath and the game was in the balance before tailender Prem Anand Sundaravasadanam hit an unbeaten 45 to see the visitors home at 138-8.

Horspath travel on Saturday to Bledlow Village 2nd, who lost to leaders Haddenham by 191 runs.
