Richardson shines in Horspath's T20 run spree
25 Jun 2026
Captain Josh Richardson smashed 75 off 46 balls to fire Horspath top of Oxfordshire Senior T20 Cup Pool 2 with a 41-run home win over Thame Town at the Recreation Ground.
Richardson hammered eight fours and four sixes in his whirlwind knock to steer his side to an imposing 243-6 after choosing to bat.
He came to the crease with the hosts 37-1 after Derval Green had cracked a quickfire 19 and proceeded to share a second-wicket stand of 64 with Rayaan Dogar (34).
Richardson continued to pepper the boundaries, adding 77 for the third wicket with Stephen Green (24), before he was bowled by Jake Wilkinson (2-57) with a century on the horizon.
Saif Dogar, with 23 off eight, and Asad Rafiq (13no) ensured the innings finished with a flourish to take Horspath to their final total.
In the face of an onslaught, captain Alex Browne returned commendable figures of 2-20 from his four overs.
Thame staged a spirited run chase before closing on 202-5.
Daniel Tervet (31) and Alex Tervet (30) made solid contributions at the top of the order, before Browne blasted 59 from 37 deliveries with two fours and six sixes.
His departure, lbw to Ryan Hicks, wasn't the end of the fireworks, though, as Dinushka Malan blitzed an unbeaten 54 off 16 balls with three fours and six sixes. Amin Rafiq picked up 2-47, while Richardson with 1-18 was the most economical of the home attack.
The win puts Horspath two points clear of Challow & Childrey, who were handed a walkover by Aston Rowant, at the top but having played a game more.
The side sit out next Tuesday's fixtures, which see Aston Rowant entertain Tiddington, while Thame are at home to Challow.
The final Pool 2 games on Tuesday, July 7 see Horspath visit Challow, while Tiddington host Thame Town.
