Horspath 2nd take over at the top

21 Jun 2026

Horspath 2nd went top of Cherwell League Division 1 for the first time this season with a convincing 102-run victory in a rain-affected encounter at bottom club Cumnor.
Put in to bat on a slow pitch, Horspath were 55-3 when rain led to a break in play of 1 hour and 47 minutes with the innings reduced to 43 overs.
On the resumption, brothers Robbie (43) and Will Eason (38) shared a key fourth-wicket stand of 88.
With Jehan Mohammed (21) and captain Ryan Hicks (19) making breezy contributions before the close, Horspath posted 174-7 as Onslowe Tapping took 3-42.
Cumnor then collapsed to 72 all out with Hicks (4-30) the chief destroyer supported by Mohammed (2-10) and Josh Cummings, who took 2-11 off nine overs.
The visitors' attack was backed up by good work in the field with Joe Gibbs and Cummings both affecting run outs.
The win puts Horspath level on points at the top with Bicester & North Oxford ahead of Saturday's home game against Dinton, who lost to Aston Rowant 2nd by five wickets.
The side are also in action on Sunday when they entertain Cumnor in the Pullinger Cup quarter-finals.
Dan Corner hit a half-century and Dan Stanley claimed a five-wicket haul as Horspath 3rd secured an impressive 84-run win at Division 3B leaders Oxford & Bletchingdon Nondescripts.
Corner's 68 off 107 balls provided the backbone of Horspath's 208-9 after they had been put in to bat.
Luke Finch (27) and Tejas Anand (22) laid the platform with 56 for the first wicket, before Saif Dogar (29) joined Corner, whose knock included nine fours, to put on 51 for the third wicket. Sarim Zafar (3-44) was Nondies' most successful bowler.
The hosts then caved in to 57-9 against Stanley (5-37) and youngsters Zach Rayner (2-10) and Julius Leslie (2-28), before Horspath were frustrated by last pair Nabeel Khan and Arfan Ahmed, who added 67 for the last wicket.
However, Stanley ended their resistance by completing his five-wicket haul when captain Khan was caught by Lesile for 56 off 64 balls to leave Nondies 124 all out.
The side remain in fifth place ahead of Saturday's home game against Wolvercote, who beat Buckingham Town 2nd by six wickets.
Openers Archie Lewins and captain Craig Wharton hit half-centuries as Horspath 4th recorded a dominant draw at home to Bledlow Village 2nd in Division 6C.
The pair shared a stand of 123 before Wharton fell for 52 off 94 balls with eight fours.
Lewins made 57 from 95 deliveries, which included four boundaries, before Ben Wise chipped in with 28 and Ollie Osborne made an unbeaten 20 as the innings closed on 214-8.
Bledlow were never in the hunt as Adrian Manger (4-34), Sifat Habibi (3-34) and Charan Voruganti (2-34) held the visitors in check.
But Oliver Bowler proved a rock at the top of the order, making an unbeaten 69 from 141 balls and safely negotiated the last over as Bledlow secured a draw at 134-9.
The result moves Horspath up to ninth going into Saturday's game at Kimble, who drew with Stokenchurch 2nd.
