It was another fantastic Thursday evening for the Horspath U13 teams, with both sides producing outstanding performances and continuing their impressive runs this season.
The Horspath U13 Pairs team made it three w2ins out of three in Gauntlett Goblet Pool 2 with an excellent 15-run victory at Sandford St Martin.
The boys once again showed great teamwork, communication, and discipline throughout the match, continuing to build strong momentum as the season progresses.
Pairs team coach Rajeev Kumar praised the boys for their effort and commitment, recognising the maturity and positive attitude shown by the entire squad.
Meanwhile, the Horspath U13 league side produced a brilliant performance in the Ron Maudsley Cup second round to secure a 30-run win at East & West Hendred.
After losing the toss, Horspath were asked to bat first and found themselves under early pressure at 0-2.
However, Azaan Siddique (19), Mujtaba Ali (10 ret) and Archie Durbin (22ret) batted superbly to steady the innings and keep Horspath in the game.
They were well supported by captain Rayan Puliyadi, alongside Joseph Creed, Saad Ali Khan and Ayman Ashad to help the team post a competitive 133-5.
With the ball, Karnajeet Malik and Joshua Holmes started the innings superbly, setting the tone with disciplined bowling.
Laurie Edwards’s lethal delivery earned an important breakthrough, while Zach Crichton produced a terrific catch to dismiss the opposition captain.
Backed by an excellent collective effort from all the bowlers and fielders, Horspath restricted East & West Hendred to 103-4.
Special mention goes to Ayman, who volunteered to keep wicket for the first time and shone behind the stumps, earning the support and encouragement of his teammates.
U13s League coach Ashad Ali said: “At Horspath, the focus is not only on developing cricketing skills, but also on teaching discipline, game awareness, patience, and character.
"Cricket can test concentration and patience at times, especially for young players, but the way these boys continue to learn, grow, and support one another is something everyone associated with the club can be proud of.
"A huge thank you goes to all parents and guardians for their continued support and encouragement throughout the season. Your commitment plays a massive role in helping the boys continue to develop and enjoy their cricket.”
Congratulations to both teams on another successful evening and best of luck in the next round.
