Narayan cracks 149 for Dark Blues

23 May 2026

Horspath's Viv Narayan hit a brilliant 149 to set Oxford University on the way to a stunning 178-run victory over arch rivals Cambridge University in The Parks.
Batting at No 3 in the British Universities & Colleges Sport Premier 1 National competition, the 27-year-old all-rounder came to the crease with the Dark Blues 4-1.
And he proceeded to dominate the Light Blues bowling to steer his side to 247-8 off 50 overs after they had chosen to bat.
His superb 159-ball knock included 17 fours as he turned the innings round in a fourth-wicket stand of 120 with Toby Brown (34).
Having brought up his century, Narayan was on the brink of another milestone when he fell to Zac Le Riche with Arjun Rajkumar taking the catch.
Cambridge then collapsed against Nat Taylor (5-28) in the rain-affected encounter, before Narayan (2-10) fittingly capped his man-of-the-match display by taking the last two wickets as Cambridge closed on 69-9.
Horspath will be hoping Viv continues his sparkling form against Datchet in the Home Counties Premier Cricket League Division 2 at the Recreation Ground today (Saturday).
