Horspath 4th produced a fine batting display to get off the mark in Cherwell League Division 6C with an 87-run win at home to Bledlow Ridge 2nd on the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern method.
Captain Craig Wharton (55no), Ben Wise (55), Tom Smith (50) and Zach Rayner (41 ret no) tucked into the Ridge bowling to post 254-2 after the hosts were put in to bat.
Wharton's innings was interrupted after he was hit on the helmet but Ben Wise kept up the tempo with Tom Smith.
Wise completed his first Cherwell half-century before his 85-ball knock, which included 10 fours, came to an end when he was caught by Molly Carter off George Keen to leave Horspath 153-1.
Smith was next to fifty, from 101 deliveries with six fours, before he was caught and bowled by Keen, but Wharton then returned to maintain the momentum with Rayner.
The skipper brought up his half-century, while Rayner's fluent knock was cut short just before the close when he was also hit on the helmet and although unscathed retired as a precaution.
Adrian Manger (2-12) made early inroads into the Ridge batting before rain led to a break in play.
The visitors' target was revised to 220 from 34 overs and they were well adrift at 132-4 despite Jovan Sahota being unbeaten on 58 when play was called off with the umpires deeming conditions dangerous due to the wet and slippery ball.
The win moves the side up to sixth ahead of Saturday's trip to Long Marston 2nd, who made it two wins out of two with a nine-wicket victory at home to Little Gaddesden.
Horspath 3rd slipped to an agonising seven-run defeat in a low-scoring Division 3B encounter at Bledlow Ridge.
The visitors produced an excellent display with the ball to dismiss Ridge for 121 after putting them in to bat.
Dan Stanley (4-33) led the way with good support from Erasmus Du Toit (3-50) and Joe Gibbs (2-16) as opener Charlie Carter (29) top-scored.
But then Horspath collapsed from 48-1 to 114 all out with only Luke Finch (33) and Pavlos Pavlides (28) making any impact as the last six wickets went down for 25 runs. Captain Sam Rolfe (4-10) was the chief destroyer.
Horspath stand in eighth place going into Saturday's visit to Wolverton Town, whose match at Buckingham Town 2nd was abandoned after they had posted 243-7 with the hosts 49-3.
Horspath 2nd's match at Banbury 2nd in Division 1 was abandoned due to rain after the hosts made 302-4 after being inserted.
The visitors were 0-1 off two balls when the match was washed out.
Ed Oakley, back at the scene of his stunning 8-22 against Didcot in the Pullinger Cup T20 Final last season, carried on where he left off when Richard Simpson edged into James Boden's gloves to leave Banbury 4-1 in the first over.
But then Joe White (100) and Freddie Crook (60) put on 173 for the second wicket.
Tom Gordon ended their partnership when Crook provided Boden with a second victim and White had just completed a fine century off 135 balls with 14 fours when he was bowled by Oakley (2-61).
Ed Phillips hit an unbeaten 68 from 57 deliveries to maintain Banbury's run spree as Gordon (2-47) picked up a second wicket before the close.
With the arrival of rain, Horspath's target was revised to 212 off 27 overs on the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern method when play resumed.
However, it proved short-lived as following a run out off the second ball, a further downpour saw the match called off.
Both sides take seven points, leaving Horspath in seventh ahead of Saturday's trip to Didcot, who lost to Aston Rowant 2nd by 75 runs.
