Horspath in Hartwell Final & Feast Match

18 Sep 2025

Horspath are set to bring the curtain down on the 2025 season with a blockbuster weekend.
The club face Aston Rowant in the Hartwell Trophy Final at Challow & Childrey on Saturday (2pm) before taking on the President's XI in the annual Feast Match at the Recreation Ground on Sunday (11.30am).
Horspath were crowned Oxfordshire T20 champions for a fourth time with a superb five-wicket win over Oxford Downs at Challow 12 months ago.
A fine bowling display limited Downs to 114-5 in a match reduced to 18 overs due to potential light issues, before Dan Todd (38) and Tyron Eyles (35) shared a thrilling opening stand of 73 off seven overs to set Horspath on the way to victory.
Saturday's encounter will also be the club's fourth straight final in the county's premier T20 competition, and the eighth appearance in the showpiece decider in the last 13 years, having won the competition when it was known as the Bernard Tollett Oxfordshire Cup in 2013, 2014 and 2018.
Horspath booked their place on Finals Day this year with an impressive 74-run victory over Banbury in the semi-finals at White Post Road.
Viv Narayan smashed 52 off 32 balls to set the holders on the way to 174-6, before the north Oxfordshire hosts were skittled for 100 with Joval Calix taking 3-16.
Horspath had secured their last-four spot by topping Pool 1 with four wins out of four, doing the double over Oxford and Oxenford.
The reigning champions opened up with a 71-run victory at home to Oxenford with Derval Green smashing 51 off 33 balls.
Tyron Eyles (35) top-scored and Josh Richardson took 3-22 as Horspath made it two wins out of two by beating Oxford by 23 runs at the Oxford University Press Sports Ground.
A hat-trick of wins was completed with a four-wicket triumph over Oxenford at Oriel College Sports Ground with Sravan Konidena claiming 4-17 and Eyles hammering 49 from 32 deliveries.
Horspath clinched top spot with a four-wicket win over Oxford at the Recreation Ground.
Captain Amin Rafiq (3-21) pegged the visitors back, before Rayaan Dogar steered the reigning champions towards victory with 39 off 30 balls.
Aston Rowant, meanwhile, coasted to an eight-wicket win at home to Shipton-under-Wychwood in the other semi-final.
Having restricted Shipton to 127-8 with Hayden Rossouw (3-6) and Max Fendom (3-25) to the fore, Rowant recovered from 11-2 thanks to an unbroken third-wicket stand of 117 between Tom Condon (56no) and skipper Tristan Rossouw (51no) to cruise home at 128-2 with 3.5 overs to spare.
The Home Counties Premier Cricket League Division 1 outfit had reached the last four by topping Pool 2 with three wins, two concessions and one abandonment.
They opened up with a six-wicket win at home to Tiddington. Fendom picked up 3-26 to help hold Tiddington to 140-6, before Tristan Rossouw hammered 56 from 35 deliveries to set his side on the way to 146-4.
Durness Mackay-Champion, with a whirlwind 64 off 24 balls, and Tristan Rossouw (52 from 36) then provided the platform for a 106-run home win over Thame Town.
The opening duo set Rowant on the way to 221-6, before Thame replied with 115-7.
Tristan Rossouw was in sparkling form again with an unbeaten 107 from 64 deliveries in a 57-run win in the reverse fixture at Tiddington.
He shared an opening stand of 132 with Condon, who blitzed 77 from 39 balls, to take Rowant to 223-2. Tiddington made 166 in reply with Jack North (3-29) and Lewis North (3-38) among the wickets.
The Hartwell Trophy Final is preceded by the Oxfordshire Women's Hundred Final (10.30am) between holders Oxford and Charlbury.
The postcode for the ground is OX12 9RR. All supporters are welcome.
And then on Sunday the focus returns to the Rec when Horspath invite members and guests to the club for the traditional end-of-season finale against the President's XI.
