Plans are now well in motion for Horspath CC's Charity Fun Tape Ball Cricket Six-A-Side Competition at the Recreation Ground on Bank Holiday Sunday, August 24.
Many thanks to those who have already signed up to play in the event, which is a fundraiser for Sobell House Hospice.
The competition, which is due to take place from 11am onwards, is for club members, friends and family.
To involve all sections of the club it's planned that teams will be made up of two men's cricketers, a women's cricketer, a junior player plus two supporters/parents.
And so the format can be finalised, organisers are asking anyone wishing to take part to sign up by Thursday, August 21 (details are on the noticeboard in the clubroom).
Alternatively, please email hcc.secretary@live.co.uk expressing your interest, so you can be included in a team.
Team members will be asked to make a £5 donation to charity (to be paid before the day), and each will receive a team shirt with thanks to Newtrim.
Plans are also being considered for a separate bowling competition.
To raise funds a raffle and an auction are to be held.
Some fantastic auction prizes including an Oxford United shirt signed by their former defender Rob Atkinson have already been donated.
Bidding is now open for this item, to be submitted to hcc.secretary@live.co.uk with the sale to be finalised on the day.
Raffle tickets are already being sold with prizes pledged including tickets to a hospitality box for Oxford United games, meal vouchers, free MOT etc.
All additional auction and raffle prizes will be gratefully received.
It's planned to have a BBQ (halal meat and vegetarian) and the bar will be open all day.
Volunteers are required for two-hour spells on the BBQ, starting from 12noon, and the bar. If you can help out, please contact one of the organisers (see below).
In the hope of good weather, it's also intended to have a supply of ice lollies.
Music is to be played during the games, and 'Good Vibes Only' are set to play in the evening.
Various elements of the day are also available for sponsorship (eg BBQ, live music, winners' medals etc) if you wish to get involved in that way.
