Overseas star Derval Green hit a blistering half-century on his first knock for the club as Horspath opened their defence of the Hartwell Trophy with a 71-run victory at home to Oxenford in Pool 1.
The Jamaican international all-rounder hammered 51 off 33 balls to steer the reigning champions to 176-7 after they elected to bat in the Oxon T20 tie.
Derval, whose debut against Gerrards Cross on Saturday was cut short by rain after he had just arrived at the non-striker's end, produced an impressive display of clean ball striking with two fours and six sixes.
With Horspath in early trouble at 20-2, he shared a superb stand of 96 with Viv Narayan (40), fresh from his brilliant 137 against Aston Rowant in the Voneus Village Cup win on Sunday.
Derval's boundary barrage included four sixes in an over down the ground over long on and long off.
He had just reached his fifty with a single into the offside before his innings ended when he skied a catch to Sameer Sonawale at point off Arsalan Khattak (2-34) to make it 116-3.
Four runs later, Narayan, who hit seven fours in his 33-ball innings, fell to the Oxenford off-spinner when he was caught by Mark Phillips just inside the long on boundary.
Stand-in skipper Josh Richardson weighed in with an unbeaten 24 to take the hosts to their final total as Idris Ahmadzi finished with 2-29.
Asad Rafiq, on the back of taking 6-21 against Rowant, made the early breakthrough in Oxenford's innings when Geo Joseph's attempted pull shot presented wicket-keeper Rob Wight with a comfortable catch.
Horspath then worked their way through the Oxenford order. Jehan Mohammed's 2-25 included a good low catch by Derval in the covers, while top scorer Roshan Gedara was among Richardson's (2-8) two wickets in an over.
Derval, bowling with lively pace, returned to the attack to finish with 2-18, before Rafiq (2-9) combined with Wight again to complete the job as Oxenford fell to 105 all out.
Next up in the competition for Horspath is a trip to face Oxford at the Oxford University Press Sports Ground on Tuesday, June 24.
