The funeral for Paul Hicks will take place at the North Oxfordshire Crematorium and Memorial Park on Friday, April 25 at 2pm.
The address for North Oxfordshire Crematorium is Banbury Road, Tackley, Kidlington, OX5 3ER.
The wake will follow at Horspath Cricket Club. Everyone is welcome and there is no dress code. Family flowers only please.
A popular Horspath member, Paul passed away last month following a brave battle with cancer, aged 58.
'Pikey', as he was known to many, originally joined Horspath as a social member, when his two sons, Ryan and Jamie, started playing youth cricket at the club.
He took on a manager's role for various youth teams his boys were involved in, and when they made the transition into adult cricket, Paul switched from playing at Garsington to the Recreation Ground in 2014.
He struck up a partnership with Carl Thompson, which saw them share the captaincy of the 4th XI for a couple of seasons.
Known for his big hitting in the middle order, Paul was a member of the Horspath 4th side which won the Steve Dixon Memorial Cup in 2023.
And, as a member of the Garsington side, which won the Airey Cup three times from 1999-2001, he was immensely proud to see Ryan follow in his footprints by lifting the same trophy two years ago as captain of Horspath 3rd.
Having been involved in bar and ground work as well as playing, coaching and supporting, he was elected as a Horspath vice-president earlier this year as recognition for his service to the club - a position he described as a great honour.
