Richardson and Biggs turn on T20 style
26 Jun 2024
Explosive half-centuries from Josh Richardson and Lachlan Biggs helped Horspath make it two wins out of two in Hartwell Senior Cup Pool 1 with a resounding 79-run victory at Tiddington.
Richardson smashed an unbeaten 56 off 26 balls after opener Biggs blasted 56 from 42 deliveries in Horspath's 228-5 after they had elected to bat in the T20 group game.
Richardson, returning to the scene of his finest hour when he hit the last ball for six to give Horspath a dramatic one-wicket win in last year's Oxfordshire final in the Voneus Village Cup, tucked into Tiddington's bowling again with four fours and five sixes.
Biggs, meanwhile, hammered eight fours and a six as he shared a second-wicket stand of 102 with Hussaan Ahmad (36), before Tyron Eyles cracked 41 off just 17 balls to put on 59 for the fourth wicket with Richardson.
Captain Amin Rafiq joined in the fun with two sixes in a rapid 17, before Richardson rounded off the innings with his fifth maximum.
Horspath then used nine bowlers as Tiddington were restricted to 149-8, with Amin (2-18) producing the pick of the figures as Jordan Davis top-scored with 35 off 12 balls.
Next up for Horspath is a home game against Oxford on Tuesday, July 2 when victory will ensure the side top Pool 1 and secure a place in the semi-finals.
