Once again we are coming to an end of another youth cricket season. A season which has been very different to the year before. We’ve had to battle a later start due to the rainfall and this continued throughout the season, with a number of sessions having to be postponed or juggled around by coaches to allow sessions to happen.
With this I am announcing that the Under 9s session on Friday evenings finished last Friday, due to a number of those who attended on the 11th August being away for the 18th August. The Wednesday evening sessions for the U11s and 13s will finish this coming Wednesday 16th August.
I would like to take a moment to congratulate all the players who have shown up each and every week to train, play and support one another. The number of children showing up has been the best for a number of years. This has been one of the most encouraging things to be seen this season and how the youth section is building from such young ages to progress through the year groups and continue to bring such talented children through our youth sections. All of this though wouldn’t be doable without the commitment of the youth parents showing fantastic support to your child/children and once again the children themselves wanting to attend.
The biggest thank you needs to go to all those who have supported your child/children in gaining the coaching experiences and who put in a lot of work not just on the coaching ground but behind the scenes to get fixtures organised. Without your coaches the learning and knowledge your child/children gain wouldn’t happen. They are key to how successful the system is at the club. Another thank you goes to Caroline and the safeguarding team, many of you may not have noticed throughout the season but at each session a club member who is DBS approved has attended from a male and female side to carry on meeting all the requirements that are set from the ECB safe hands team. A lot of this work is behind the scenes and takes a lot of time and effort to carry on making our club a safe place for all to be at.
Going forward we are always looking for parents and volunteers to carry on allowing our club to grow bigger, better and stronger. If you feel you would like to support in any roles in the club from coaching or safeguarding please do get in touch with Craig Wharton craigwharton_6@hotmail.com and we will support you in gaining any qualifications required to help you support the club in those roles. We will be in touch again in the near future to announce one last get to together later in the year for a youth awards evening.
Many thanks for all your support,
Craig Wharton
