Thomas hits maiden ton in Horspath 3rd's win

ALEX Thomas compiled an excellent maiden Cherwell League century as Horspath 3rd signed off with a commanding 82-run victory at home to Oxenford in Division 3A.
Thomas made an unbeaten 101 from 130 balls with 12 fours to take Horspath to 295-7 after being put in to bat.
He shared a second-wicket stand of 84 with opener Dan Todd, who got the side off to a flying start with 61 from 45 balls, which included 11 fours.
Thomas, whose previous league best was 74 for Horspath 2nd against Bledlow Village in 2019, was then joined in a partnership of 104 with Lukas Yendole, who made 51 from 83 deliveries with four fours and three sixes.
Skipper Ryan Hicks ensured there was no let up for the visitors by blasting 41 from 24 balls, putting on 75 for the fourth wicket with Thomas, who reached his century shortly before the close, while Div Puri took 5-53 for Oxenford.
Jason Cardy (3-5) then produced a stunning opening spell as Oxenford crashed to 16-4. 
The visitors rallied through Amer Ali (57no) and Puri (42), but Andy Cummings (4-26) returned to wrap up the innings as Oxenford were bowled out for 213.
The win ensured Horspath finished a fine season in fourth place.
