08 Aug 2022

CHARLIE Turner (pictured) hit a maiden century before Horspath 3rd were denied victory by Thame Town 2nd's last pair in their home Cherwell League Division 3A encounter.
Batting at No 6, Turner made an unbeaten 101 to take the hosts to 318-9 dec after they had been inserted.
The 17-year-old reached his half-century with the first of two straight sixes from consecutive deliveries after Rayaan Dogar had struck 73 from 91 balls with nine fours.
Skipper Ryan Hicks weighed in with 44, while Turner, when on 88, almost missed out on the opportunity to score a ton when last man Andy Cummings survived a chance.
But he kept his focus and brought up his first century with a two through extra cover. His runs came off 87 balls and included 11 fours and two sixes.
Peter Tervet (3-25) took early wickets, while Zachary Harris (3-30) enjoyed some success late on.
Thame were never in the hunt, replying with 179-9 as the wickets were shared around. Ben Warwick made 59 after opener David Hewes chipped in with 32.
The visitors reached the final over with two wickets in hand and Horspath's hopes of snatching victory were lifted when Jason Cardy struck with his third delivery, but Thame's last man held out for a draw.
Cardy took 2-19 from 10 overs, with good support from Sameer Hashimi (2-24) and Hicks (2-47).
The side's 20-point haul from the draw moves them up to fourth place.
