CAPTAIN Craig Wharton (pictured) hammered a brilliant 121, but it couldn't stop Horspath 4th falling to a four-wicket defeat in a last-ball thriller at Dorchester in Cherwell League Division 5C.
Wharton improved on the unbeaten 100 he made at Wootton and Boars Hill in June with his terrific ton setting Horspath on the way to 242-6 dec after they had chosen to bat.
He shared in an opening stand of 99 with Adrian Manager (39), before going on to rack up his century with 20 fours in his 126-ball stay.
However, it didn't prove enough as Dorchester secured victory at 243-6 in an exciting finish with the home side scrambling the two runs required from the last delivery.
Manger took 3-73 from 15 overs, but Aiden Pugh smashed an unbeaten 83 from 72 deliveries with 11 fours after good contributions from skipper Adrian Redhead (38), Tom Ferris (33) and Steve McComb (32) to see Dorchester home.
