Horspath 2nd's title hopes dented with defeat

01 Aug 2022

HORSPATH 2nd's title hopes in Cherwell League Division 2 were dented with a 55-run defeat away to bottom club East Oxford.
The side remain top, but their lead has been trimmed to seven points by Buckingham Town 2nd, who move up to second after beating Abingdon Vale by two wickets.
East Oxford rattled up 261-8 after choosing to bat despite the efforts of Subhan Javaid (3-33) and Justin Clarke (3-62).
Kamran Ali Shah hit five fours and four sixes in his 85 off 86 balls, while Ozair Malak contributed 69 from 128 deliveries with eight boundaries.
Horspath were never really in the hunt in reply as they subsided to 206 all out.
Jehan Mohammed top-scored with a run-a-ball 49, while Rob Wight weighed in with 45 and Tom Betts made 27, but the visitors fell well short with Malak (3-10) wrapping up the innings after Kumar Sumit, Tanveer Alam and Zabihullah Saeed picked up two wickets apiece.
