Todd hits ton in Horspath 2nd's dominant draw

ACTING skipper Joey Todd (pictured) hit a superb century before leaders Horspath 2nd were denied victory by Challow & Childrey's last pair as their Cherwell League Division 2 top-of-the-table clash at the Recreation Ground ended in a draw.
Todd hammered 107 from 135 balls at the top of the order to set Horspath on the way to 266-5 after they had been put in to bat.
He shared an opening stand of 85 with Christopher Hofen (41), before putting on 127 for the second wicket with Tom Betts, who hit seven boundaries in his classy 58.

Strong through the covers, Todd's innings including 16 fours and a straight six.

He brought up his century with a quick single into the offside, before his excellent knock ended when he was caught at deep mid-wicket by Ryan Gordon off Olly Dunn (2-26). 

Challow were then reduced to 67-5 with Ed Oakley, whose 3-30 included top scorer Gordon (38), and Subhan Javaid (2-53) doing the damage.

Stephen Green (2-9) and Luke Heritage (2-36) tightened Horspath's grip as Joe Harris made 30, but Alex Dawson (27no) and Arty Armytage held out as the visitors closed on 157-9.
Horspath picked up 20 points from the draw, but their lead at the top has now been cut to nine points by Bledlow Village, who beat Sandford St Martin by six runs. Challow, meanwhile, drop from second to fifth place.
