Cardy shines in Horspath 3rd's victory
25 Jul 2022
JASON Cardy (pictured) produced a terrific all-round display as Horspath 3rd continued their impressive form with a 56-run victory at home to second-placed Bletchley Town in Cherwell League Division 3A.
He top-scored with 71 in the hosts' 248-9 after they had chosen to bat, before taking 4-54 as Bletchley were bowled out for 192.
Cardy's super knock included 10 fours and a six, and he was well supported in the middle order by Rayaan Dogar, who made 50 with six boundaries after opener Dan Todd had struck 40, while the total was boosted by 45 extras. Idrees Butt (5-39) and Ahad Khan (4-80) shared the wickets.
Cardy then got stuck into the Bletchley batting backed up by skipper Ryan Hicks (2-40) before Sameer Hashimi (3-22) polished the visitors off.
Teymour Omar (42) and opener Matt Shepherd (31) provided the main resistance, while the visitors were also aided by 47 extras.
The win, which was the side's eighth triumph in their last nine games, sees them remain in fifth place.
Horspath 4th succumbed to a six-wicket defeat at Wolvercote in Division 5C.
The visitors, who were bowled out for 119 after choosing to bat, were indebted to Muhammad Dogar (40) for their final total, having been 36-6.
Toby Shelley (5-25) ripped through the top order, before Chris Lynch (3-51) and Amit Borlikar (2-28) completed the job.
Horspath then took early wickets with Dogar, who returned figures of 2-47 from 14 overs, in the thick of the action, before Yatish Singh (42no) saw Wolvercote home at 121-4.
