Horspath are delighted to announce their first signing for the 2027 campaign with the arrival of Didcot batsman Owen Simmons at the Recreation Ground.
The 23-year-old makes the move after one season at Boundary Park in which he scored 457 runs in Cherwell League Division 1 at an average of 32.64.
The highlight of the left-hander's campaign was a career-best unbeaten 138 off 144 balls at home to Oxford Downs 2nd.
He also scored two half-centuries, which included a knock of 57 at home to Horspath 2nd when he captained the side.
Simmons began as an Under 11 at Peppard Stoke Row back in 2014.
He rose through the ranks to captain the side, scoring 447 league runs at 29.80 in his last season at the Thames Valley League club.
He also played for Peppard at the Rec in the 2024 Village Cup fifth round, a game Horspath won by 31 runs.
Simmons has made his mark with the ball as well, taking 4-9 for Didcot in a Pullinger Cup win against Westbury last season.
Director of Cricket Will Eason said: "We are really pleased to have Owen joining us for the 2027 season.
"He is a player we have kept a close eye on in the last few seasons. He scored an excellent 50 against our 2s this season at Didcot on a tricky pitch, and also offers a good option with the ball.
"We feel he has a high ceiling, and firmly believe his game can continue to develop and will be a valuable member of our first team squad."
