Sravan Konidena clocked up 500 runs for the season in the Home Counties Premier Cricket League as Horspath confirmed their Division 2 status for next year by scrambling a dramatic one-wicket win at already-relegated Chesham.
Having bowled out the Bucks club for 200 after they chose to bat, Horspath appeared to be coasting to victory as Konidena made a fluent 44 at the top of the order.
The Oxfordshire all-rounder achieved his personal milestone when he moved on to six with a single in the fourth over.
And with new opening partner, Josh Richardson, in good form the pair shared a first-wicket stand of 74 before Konidena was bowled by Moiz Rana.
The visitors still looked in total control with Richardson and Stephen Green taking the score on to 117-1.
Richardson had just completed his half-century with a three to go with nine fours when he slashed at left-arm seamer Alfie Clifford and was caught above his head by Rana at backward point for 52 off 87 balls.
With Derval Green contributing a breezy 17, it still seemed as if Horspath would get over the line with few alarms at 166-3.
But after the Jamaican all-rounder was caught by Sam Harris on the deep mid-wicket boundary off spinner Moteeb Syed, a collapse set in as six wickets fell for the addition of 27 runs.
Stephen Green's determined knock ended when he came down the track to Simardeep Singh and was stumped by Daksh Sabherwal for 30 and with Syed (4-52) wreaking havoc, all of a sudden it was 193-9 to set up another nail-biting finish.
However, Sam Leslie (13no), who hit two crucial fours including the winning boundary, and last man Jehan Mohammed kept their cool to see Horspath home at 203-9.
Earlier, Liam Turnbull (3-39) produced a lively spell to reduce Chesham to 46-3. Opener Matt Rance and captain Mark Eteen rebuilt the innings with 65 before Jehan Mohammed made an immediate impact after being brought into the attack.
He trapped Eteen lbw for 24 with his fifth delivery and then with the first ball of his next over bowled Rance for 62 to make it 112-5. The Chesham opener's runs came off 70 balls and included eight fours.
With Leslie tying the home batsmen down in a tight spell of seven overs for just 13 runs, Mohammed (3-48) struck again with a juggling catch off his own bowling to remove Singh and leave Chesham 123-6.
Theodore Weatherall and Syed added 49 for the seventh wicket, before Konidena's throw to Richardson at the bowler's end ran out the latter.
Weatherall went to a half-century, which included six fours and a six, before he was caught at deep square leg off captain Amin Rafiq, whose 1-15 came off eight accurate overs.
Derval Green (2-31) then shattered the stumps of the last two batsmen to wrap up the innings and round off an efficient Horspath display in the field.
The win ended a run of four losses for the visitors, who remain in seventh place ahead of Saturday's home game against Challow & Childrey, who were relegated after a six-wicket defeat by Oxford.
