Horspath U13s in thrilling Hundred win

12 Aug 2026

Horspath pulled off a thrilling two-wicket win at home to Steventon in the Oxfordshire U13 Hundred with two balls to spare.
Steventon posted 125-3 from 100 balls after being put in to bat in the Pool 4 encounter with Karnajeet Malik, Laurie Edwards and Ayman Ashad taking a wicket each.
Behind the stumps, Ayman also took a brilliant catch to dismiss Oshie Keymer (14) as opener Miller Connor and captain Wilfred Snuggs both retired on 28 not out.
Horspath got off to a shaky start at 6-3, but Karnajeet (14) and Laurie (10) steadied the innings with an excellent partnership.
Three wickets fell in quick succession bringing skipper Sebastian Pavlistian and Saad Ali together at the crease.
They kept the scoreboard ticking, but 18 were still needed from the final 10 balls.
Seb smashed a boundary to bring it down to eight from five and then came the drama. Saad missed the next ball, and the keeper missed it too to inch Horspath closer to their target.
Seb (17no) and Saad (16no) kept the pressure on the fielders, forcing mistakes, and incredibly ran four runs to seal the win at 126-8.
Team manager Ashad Ali commented: "It was a fantastic finish and a huge well done to Saad and skipper Seb for keeping their composure under pressure.
"As a coach, I’m incredibly proud of all the boys. There are still a few areas we need to improve, and we’ll keep working on them together."
The win moved Horspath up to second place and followed another impressive performance at Abingdon Vale where the side had just eight players.
Raheem Dogar was outstanding with 31 not out and 2-13, supported by Elias Leaveson (22no ret) and wickets from Mujtaba Ali, Karnajeet, Zachary Crichton and Ayman.
Horspath restricted Vale to 93-7 after putting them in to bat with captain Caleb Clark retiring 30 not out, before Dogar led the visitors to victory at 97-4 off just 60 balls.
The side are back in action at home to Oxford on Thursday (August 13), before completing their group matches at Oxford & Bletchingdon Nondescripts next Thursday (August 20).
