Derval Green took the Recreation Ground by storm with a brilliant unbeaten 141 to set Horspath on the way to a resounding 144-run victory over second-placed Wokingham in Home Counties Premier Cricket League Division 2.
The Jamaican all-rounder's explosive knock, which came off 91 balls and included eight fours and an incredible 13 sixes, was a Home Counties club record, surpassing the 133 by Tom Coleman at Slough on July 24, 2021.
With opener Sravan Konidena falling for 47 shortly after lunch as the hosts were put in to bat, Green came to the crease with Horspath 90-4 in the 31st over and proceeded to flay the Wokingham attack to all parts of the ground.
He shared a superb partnership of 169 with Robbie Eason (69), equalling the Home Counties club fifth-wicket record set by Stephen Green (92no) and Kyle Hopper (93) against Finchampstead on June 1, 2019.
Derval brought up his half-century off 43 balls in style with a straight six down the ground and continued to punish the visitors' bowling.
Eason also played his part, chalking up another fifty with a drive through the offside for two, before Green kept up the brutal onslaught with another mighty straight six to bring up the century partnership.
The overseas star was relentless, reaching his ton from 76 deliveries by dropping a single into the offside and the pair took their stand to 150 when Eason drove a single down to long on.
It was flamboyant stuff from Derval at times with his magnificent maximums including one down the ground with one hand off the bat and another over cover off one knee.
The pair matched the club's previous best for the fifth wicket when Green launched another six over long on, before their stand was broken when Eason fell to Andy Rishton with Sukhmeet Kang throwing down the stumps as he set off for a run. Eason's runs came off 125 balls and included 10 fours.
Green wasn't finished, though, dispatching two more sixes as Horspath closed on 283-6. It had been a fabulous innings, but not his highest in club cricket - that's 199!
Skipper Tom Hampton (2-50) and Andy Rishton (2-78) were the main wicket-takers, while Shaan Khan escaped the carnage with his 12 overs costing just 22 runs.
Wokingham were left shell-shocked by Derval's destructive display and their woes multiplied as they plunged to 13-3 at tea.
Asad Rafiq sparked the collapse by trapping Hanson Martin lbw with the fourth ball of the innings, before Konidena (3-24) uprooted Michael Cowdell's off stump and skipper Ami Rafiq won an lbw appeal against Khan.
Konidena produced a superb inswinger to knock back Billy Rogers's off stump as he shouldered arms, before another cracking delivery rattled Rishton's stumps to make it 35-5.
Green then made an impact with the ball by pinning Kang lbw and when Liam Turnbull bowled Sulaiman Javed it was 64-7.
Left-arm spinner Sam Leslie, on his Home Counties debut, conceded just six runs from his five-over spell, while Amin (2-21) claimed his second lbw victim to remove Imran Malik for a stubborn 30.
Green returned to end Hampton's resistance for 17 courtesy of Konidena's stunning low catch at third slip.
And, fittingly, it was Green (3-15) who clinched victory when he yorked Iain Muirden, who had made a defiant 41, to leave Wokingham 143 all out.
Horspath, who are now unbeaten in nine games, remain fourth but have closed the gap on Wokingham to 14 points ahead of Saturday's trip to third-placed Gerrards Cross, who beat Oxford by six wickets.
