Cummings claims 6-32 for Horspath 3rd

15 Jun 2025

Josh Cummings returned Cherwell League best figures of 6-32 to set Horspath 3rd up for an emphatic eight-wicket win at home to Charlbury in Division 4B.

Bowling unchanged from one end, Cummings ripped through the visitors' batting in a superb 17-over spell, which also included seven maidens, to send Charlbury reeling to 88 all out.

He was well supported by Dougal Main (2-16) and Nishi Ranasinghe (1-29), before Joe Gibbs picked up the final wicket as only opener and captain David Jenkins (28) made any headway for the visitors.

Dan Corner then hammered an unbeaten 64 from 70 balls with nine fours as Horspath coasted to victory at 91-2, sharing a third-wicket stand of 69 with Main (17no).

The win moves Horspath up a place to second ahead of next Saturday's trip to bottom club Cumnor 2nd, who were 33 all out in an eight-wicket defeat at Chipping Norton.

Horspath 4th snatched defeat from the jaws of victory with a dramatic collapse triggering a seven-run loss against Golden Sparrows in Division 6C at Hanney.

Having bowled out the hosts for 124 after putting them in to bat, Horspath looked to be on course for maximum points at 90-1.

But after Ehsan Hussain (41) and Oliver Taylor (34) were parted following a second-wicket stand of 61 the last eight wickets fell for just 12 runs.

Harshul Monga (4-19) was the chief destroyer with four wickets in as many balls supported by Ravichandran Rallabandi (3-40).

Earlier, Ansh Chande (4-31) and Nauman Amran (3-26) had led the way for Horspath in the Sparrow innings with Harsh Singh (2-28) and Hussain (1-19) also among the wickets as Praveen Reddy Mutcumari (22) top-scored.

The side drop a place to eighth with next up a home game on Saturday against Harwell International, who drew with Abingdon Vale 2nd.
