Horspath host Rowant in T20 semi-final

13 Aug 2024

Horspath bid for a place at Oxfordshire T20 Finals Day when they take on Aston Rowant in the Hartwell Senior Cup semi-final at the Recreation Ground tonight (Tuesday, August 13).

Oxford Downs await the winners on Sunday, September 15 following their two-wicket home victory over Banbury in last week's first semi-final.

Horspath booked their last-four spot by topping Pool 1 with three wins and a cancellation from their four games.

The side did the double over Oxford, winning by 16 runs at the Oxford University Press Sports Ground and by 72 runs at home.

A 79-run victory at Tiddington was sandwiched in between, before the return fixture was called off.

Lachlan Biggs starred with 56 in both the home win over Oxford and the victory at Tiddington where Josh Richardson smashed an unbeaten 56 off 26 balls.

In the opening win at Oxford, Viv Narayan blasted a brilliant 66 off 34 deliveries, before Joval Calix returned superb figures of 5-27.

Rowant, meanwhile, secured their semi-final spot by topping Pool 2 on net run rate after finishing level on points with Henley.

The Home Counties Premier League Division 1 side won two of their four games with one defeat and a cancellation.

Tristan Rossouw slammed an unbeaten 60 in their opening eight-wicket win at home to Henley, before Jack North took 4-30 in a seven-wicket victory at home to Thame Town.

In their final pool game, Rowant went down by six wickets to Henley at Harpsden, but their run rate was still good enough to top the section.

The match starts at 6pm. All supporters are welcome.
