Horspath women seek players for exciting season

11 Apr 2024

Horspath women are looking to recruit players as they prepare to break new ground on two fronts in an exciting summer of cricket.
Formed in 2019, the team will compete in Home Counties Women's League Division 3 South for the first time this season and in the inaugural Oxfordshire Women's Hundred.
The women's section, which has gone from strength to strength over the last five years, will also again feature in the Home Counties Women's League Super 8 Development competition and in the local summer softball festivals as usual.
The Super 8s - so-named because they are eight-a-side matches - kick-off the season with a triangular competition against hosts Dinton and Tiddington on Sunday, April 28.
The other sides in the group are Freeland, Oxenford and Oxford with Horspath at home on May 19.
Horspath open their HCWL Division 3 South programme against Steventon at the Recreation Ground on Sunday, June 16. The section is completed by Beaconsfield, Cookham Dean, Freeland, Maidenhead & Bray, Oxenford and Sonning.
High summer sees the club - playing under the name Horspath Hurricanes - take part in Oxfordshire Women's Hundred Group A alongside Charlbury,Freeland, Oxenford, Oxford and Sandford St Martin - with matches on Friday evenings, starting on July 26.
The side, who have their own dedicated coach in Jonty Hedges, have already enjoyed notable success, winning Oxfordshire Indoor League Division 2 in 2022 as well as numerous softball festivals.
Training takes place on Monday and Wednesday evenings with players aged 14 plus and of all abilities welcome. For more information email: hcc.women@hotmail.com
