19 Sep 2023

TEENAGE opening batsman Christopher Hofen was the big winner at Horspath's end-of-season awards with a hat-trick of trophies.
The 17-year-old was named players' player of the season with 4th XI captain Craig Wharton runner-up and 1st XI all-rounder Jehan Mohammed taking third spot.
Hofen also picked up the 2nd XI Most Valuable Player award (as voted for by the players) along with the batting trophy.
With the presentations taking place outside the clubroom, Wharton and Mohammed each won a brace of prizes.
Mohammed was named the 1st XI Most Valuable Player and the Horspath Barmy Army Player of the Year.
Wharton, who led the 4th XI to a league and cup double, received the trophies as his side's Most Valuable Player and the Committee's Player of the Year.
Opening batsman Dan Todd was named the 3rd XI's Most Valuable Player.
The bowling award went to veteran left-arm spinner Robin Pykett, whose 27 wickets helped the 4th XI become Cherwell League Division 6A champions.
Josh Richardson received the Best Moment of the Year award for hitting a six off the last ball to win the Oxfordshire Village Cup final at Tiddington.
There was also a Barmy Army Special Award for Max Eason recognising all the work he does for the club.
Thanks go to Horspath Barmy Army leader Diddy, who carried out the presentations along with chairman John Hilland and octogenarian umpire Dennis Whittaker, plus administrator Ash Edwards.
