Horspath's key clash washed out

07 Aug 2023

HORSPATH'S important Home Counties Premier League Division 2 basement battle at Buckingham Town was abandoned without a ball being bowled.
It was the second time in three weeks that rain ruled on another soggy Saturday, which saw the entire league programme washed out.
The abandonment leaves Horspath in ninth place, 19 points adrift of safety ahead of next Saturday's home game against local rivals Oxford when the format changes to 50-overs a side for the final four fixtures.
It was the same story in the Cherwell League where Horspath's three sides all had their games washed out without a ball being bowled.
The only ground to see any action was at Great & Little Tew in Division 3B and even then rain had the final word with the match abandoned with the hosts 67-2 in reply to Cropredy's 155 all out.
Horspath 2nd, who are third in Division 1, are back in action at second-placed Banbury 2nd this Saturday.
The 3rd XI are at home to Didcot 2nd in Division 3A, while the 4th XI will look to step up their Division 6A title tilt when they make the short trip to Garsington 2nd.
