Horspath Cricket Club

Dear all,

I hope that this email finds you well.  Horspath CC are very much looking forward to the start of the 2023 cricket season, with youth training commencing week beginning Monday 24th April.

Training schedule

This year we are introducing a guide which includes all key information for the Youth Programme. It will soon be available on the Horspath CC website and will also be emailed separately to all registered youth members.

The leaflet provides further detail on:

• Registration and membership costs

• Introduction with guidance on how to download the Hitssports app; particularly useful for paying match fees and marking availability.  If your child’s availability is not updated on the club website/ app then they WILL NOT be selected for fixtures

• Training dates for the different age groups within our youth programme.  (You will notice that our u9 training has been moved to Friday evening)

• Junior matches and festivals for the different ages group

• Information on how older youth players, aged 14 and above, can attend senior training sessions

All players who have aspirations to represent the club MUST have a match shirt.  Please note that for new members only, the first match shirt is free and will be reimbursed by the club upon proof of purchase.

Registration

All current members will have received a renewal email.  If your child does not wish to renew their membership please let us know by sending an email to hcc.youth@live.co.uk

Please note that we cannot allow unregistered players to attend training or be selected for matches, therefore please register and pay membership for your child by Friday 5th May. If membership has not been made by this date then their place could be offered to players on our waiting list. If you cannot make payment by 5th May please contact your child’s coach directly, or the club’s welfare officer.

Your child’s membership includes weekly training and the use of nets. 

Selection and Fixtures

Selection in the younger age groups (U9s and U11s)  is generally based on availability and selection in the older age groups (U13s and U15s) is generally based on ability. Therefore, it is possible that not ALL players will play regular league matches, particularly where there are large number of players in a given age group.

During July/August we have entered a longer format for U13s where selection will generally be based on availability.

Junior Cricket Kit

We all know how quickly our children seem to grow, particularly in the summer months, therefore as part of our aim to support our community we’d like your help.  Please donate any outgrown kit (must be in decent condition): spikes, bats, helmets, pads, gloves, wicket keeping gloves etc to the club during the first two weeks of you training.  We will then organise and have the donated kit ready during the youth training sessions.  The kit is available for free. 

Youth Social

On Friday 5th May  we’d like to invite all youth members and their families to a meet and greet.  Further information will be sent out closer to the time.

Volunteers

The club’s success is 100% reliant on volunteers who generously give up their time all year round, from pitch maintenance to coaching and scoring. If you feel you can support the club please do talk to one of the many volunteers; we always have roles that need fulfilling.
