Horspath Cricket Club 2nd XI v Cublington on Sat 23 Jun 2012 at 13:00
Match was Drawn

Match report From Cublington website:
Cublington travelled to second placed Horspath on Saturday for their latest top of the table clash. Under a grey sky Horspath won the toss and predictably, with rain forecast later in the day, chose to bat. Openers O’Connor and Meredith got off to a flyer with 24 runs flowing from the first 4 overs. They were aided by a close stumping decision in the second over going in the favour of O’Connor, to the frustration of the entire Cubs side. It proved a costly decision. Meredith fell in the fifth over bowled by Phil Rice for 4, but O’Connor went on to take advantage of his earlier fortune, smashing the ball to all parts. With Mohammed joining O’Connor, Hospath moved to 90 before the latter fell caught behind of the bowling of Andy Lane for 61. Mohammed (67), dropped at second slip by Greg Jenkins early in his innings also took advantage of his luck, supported by the Hospath middle order of Jones (24) and Green (26 no). The Introduction of Greg Jenkins (3-36) stemmed the flow of runs somewhat and the wickets of Mohammed, Jones and Henderson saw Cubs maintain some level of control through the innings. With three overs lost to early rain, Horspath finished 226 for 6 from 50 overs, which was little more than a par score on a ground that gives good value for shots.
With 44 overs available to chase down the target Cublington were dealt an early blow with the loss of Bill Burton, bowled by Rana for a solitary run. Dan Catt joined Jamie Leggett and both looked to be positive. Both made starts and both sadly failed to move on from those starts, with Leggett (16) caught at cover and Catt (22) bowled by Rana. Pip Webb struggled to score fluently but showed some determination not to give his wicket away cheaply. But with the loss of Talbot run out for 4 the game was slipping away under the gathering clouds. Before the rain eventually came Cubs also lost Webb for 21 and Jenkins for 9, having reached 97 for 6 in 32 overs. The game never restarted, so a one sided draw saw Cublington fall fowl of a points system that really doesn’t account for rain in the second innings. A 15 point swing sees Cublington retain top spot in division 4 by a mere 2 points and a repeat of last season’s tussle between the two sides in Division 5 looks on the cards.
