Manger & Chanel secure victory for the 2's.

Tuesday May 18th: A match winning 4th wicket partnership of 110 between Adi and Phil saw the 2's achieve what was, finally, a comfortable home victory over Cropredy 2's last Saturday.

After AC won the toss and inserted Cropredy, Mitch opened up bowling fast and occasionally straight. When he was straight he was too hot to handle for the early Cropredy batsmen and he took the first three wickets to fall, reserving a beauty to remove the dependable Pete Cooling. However the arrival of former County all rounder Richard Lynch revived Cropredy's innings and he went on to compile an excellent 108no, mixing up fine orthodox strokeplay with shots that were outrageous. His battle with Ricksy was particularly good value for those present. An imposing target was in view before a magnificent run out by Sam Hay and the introduction of Dan Todd stemmed the run rate. Dan's fine spell was rewarded with three wickets and Stu picked up a couple as the innings finished in the 53rd over.

Thoughts that the target was under par were reinforced by Sam Hay and Alex Eason starting off with a flurry of shots and when both fell Chris Jones carried on the momentum. His departure brought Adrian to join Phil and he carried on as he left off last week with a mixture of sumptuous drives and delicate cuts and with Phil showing a welcome return to form, the score fairly raced along. Phil was out for 51 leaving Stu to join Adrian. Stu mixed some powerful drives with determined attempts to run his partner out before Adrian departed for 86 with victory in sight. This allowed time for both Mitchell [2 balls] and Ricksy [1 ball] to fall for ducks before victory was secured.
